Christmas Light Installation in Winter Park, FL

What it takes to light a Winter Park home well, from oak canopy wrapping to gabled rooflines, and why the booking calendar matters here.

Key Takeaway

Christmas lights in Winter Park usually mean two things working together: C9 bulbs on the roofline and gables, plus mature oaks or palms wrapped in mini lights. Displays start at $1,000, most single-story rooflines run $1,000 to $2,000 and two-story homes $1,500 to $2,500. We are based in Volusia County and group Winter Park into route days, so booking in September or October matters.

What makes Christmas lights in Winter Park different?

Two things shape almost every design we draw here: the tree canopy and the roof shape. Mature oaks change what a house looks like at night, and a gabled roofline gives us plenty of angles to follow.

The canopy

A big oak over the front yard swallows roofline light. Wrapping the trunk and lower canopy puts the glow back at eye level and makes the whole lot read as lit, not just the house.

The roof

Gables and dormers are the payoff. Each peak we outline adds depth, which is why ridgelines price higher per foot than a straight gutter run. Most jobs are front-facing only, so if your house is seen from more than one angle it is worth telling us on the quote form which elevation matters to you.

Castle Pro Tip

If you have a big front oak, it helps to decide early whether it gets wrapped or gets icicle drops hung from the branches. They are different looks and different prices, and seeing both on the mockup before you commit saves a change later.

What do we actually light on a Winter Park house?

Most jobs are front-facing only. Sides and back are optional and priced as add-ons if you want them.

Rooflines and ridges get classic C9 LED bulbs, nothing else. We do not hang icicle lights on rooflines, because nobody makes a commercial-grade icicle light that holds up for a season. When we say icicle drops, we mean drop lights hung from tree branches.

Warm white is our default and the most popular color. C9 bulbs come in any color or pattern, like alternating red and warm white, and cool white and multicolor are both common.

The residential service page lists everything we light, from the roof to the ground.

How does tree wrapping work on mature oaks?

We wrap with 70-light LED mini strands at 4-inch spacing. The strand count is what drives the price, not guesswork.

Rough counts from our own jobs: a small palm trunk takes about 2 strands, a large palm 4 to 5, and an oak wrapped to about 20 feet takes 7 to 8. Wrapping higher or out into the branches takes more.

Walkway and driveway edges are a different animal. Those use stake lights, roughly one stake per foot, and they tie the yard back to the house once the trees are done.

For a side-by-side on how wrapping compares to roof work, our guide on roofline vs. ridgeline vs. tree wrapping breaks it down.

What does Christmas light installation in Winter Park cost?

Every display starts at $1,000, which is the minimum. One price covers the design mockup, the lights, install, timers, in-season fixes, takedown and storage.

DisplaySeason price
Most single-story rooflines$1,000 - $2,000
Two-story homes$1,500 - $2,500
Large custom full-property$4,500 and up
Roofline, per footabout $7
Ridgelines, per footabout $10

Homes with leaf-filter style gutter guards cost more, since the guards come off and go back on around the lights. Full detail sits on our pricing page.

Why does early booking matter more in Winter Park?

Our crews and storage facility are in Volusia County. Castle Christmas Lights serves homes from Daytona Beach to Winter Park, and Orange and Seminole County installs get grouped into route days so we are not driving one house at a time.

Returning customers book first, and by mid-November we are usually booked into mid-December.

Installs run September through December. September or October is the best time to lock a date, and early bookers get a 15% early-booking discount for the 2026 season. It does not stack on a job already at the $1,000 minimum.

If you are weighing timing, our guide on when to book in Florida walks through the whole calendar.

Castle Pro Tip

September and October are the easiest months to get the install date you want. It helps to send photos early, since the mockup and the yes on scope come before we build the quote.

How do we quote a home without visiting it?

We quote from photos, so there is no appointment to schedule. We do not do in-person quote visits during install season.

Text us two to four clear photos of the front of the house plus any trees or columns, or we pull the property on Google Maps and Street View and measure the roofline in linear feet on satellite. Then we draw a mockup on the photo of your house and get a yes on scope and color before the quote is built.

More on what to send is in our guide to getting a quote.

  1. 1
    Send photos or the address

Two to four clear shots of the front, plus trees and columns. The quote form at /get-quote takes about 60 seconds and we reply with a same-day quote by text.

  2. 2
    Share a rough budget

We ask up front, not to haggle, but to size the design before we draw anything.

  3. 3
    Review the mockup

We draw the design on a photo of your home so you see scope and color before you pay.

  4. 4
    Lock the date

A 50% non-refundable deposit holds the install day. It is fully refunded if we cannot install safely.

  5. 5
    We install and set timers

An insured crew installs and programs the timers. The balance is charged the day of install, so nothing is due at takedown.

Should you buy lights or rent a full-service display?

We only work one way: full-service seasonal rental. You never buy or own the lights. We own everything, cut it to fit your house, and take it back in January.

We do not install lights a customer bought, including app-controlled or permanent systems, and we do not place stand-alone yard decor like inflatables.

More on who supplies what is in our guide on who provides the lights, and the rental service page covers the model.

Buying your own and hiring labor
  • You store the boxes all year
  • Strands are generic lengths, not cut to your roof
  • Burned-out bulbs are on you
  • Not something we take on
How we do it
  • Commercial-grade LEDs custom cut to the house
  • Free bulb and outage fixes all season
  • Takedown January 1-31
  • Stored in labeled bins with color-coded tags

How do lights attach without damaging the roof?

With clips, never screws, staples or drilling. Clips slide under or clamp to shingles, clip onto gutters, or connect to metal flashing.

On tile roofs a shingle-style clip slides up under the tile where it fits. On a tile ridgeline we often use a removable adhesive that comes off at the end of the season. It works on tile, stucco, shingle and metal homes.

Our full write-up on stucco, tile and metal roofs goes deeper. Every employee carries workers' comp, and we hold a $2 million commercial and residential liability policy. A certificate of insurance is available on request.

What happens during a Florida season, and at takedown?

Things we see here: GFCI outlets tripping after heavy rain, wet outlets that will not reset, landscapers cutting or snagging wire, and squirrels chewing wire. Outages need to be reported to us, then we fix them free, usually within 72 hours.

Takedown starts January 1 and finishes by January 31. Nothing is due at takedown, and the lights go back to our facility in labeled bins with color-coded tags so the same display returns next year. Keeping them up later is fine when it is arranged ahead. The removal and storage page covers how that part runs.

We also light homes in Oviedo and Orlando, and you can see the whole map on our service areas page or the Winter Park page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We light homes across Winter Park. Because our crews and storage are in Volusia County, Orange County installs get grouped into route days rather than scheduled one at a time. Booking in September or October gives you the widest choice of dates before the calendar tightens in November.

Every display starts at $1,000, which is our minimum. Most single-story rooflines land between $1,000 and $2,000 for the season, two-story homes run $1,500 to $2,500, and large custom full-property displays start at $4,500. As a rough guide, roofline is about $7 per foot and ridgelines about $10 per foot with lights included. Gutter guards add cost.

Yes. We wrap trunks and canopies with 70-light LED mini strands at 4-inch spacing. An oak wrapped to roughly 20 feet takes about 7 to 8 strands, a large palm 4 to 5, a small palm about 2. We can also hang icicle drop lights from branches, which is a different look than wrapping and gets priced separately.

One price covers the design mockup drawn on a photo of your house, commercial-grade LED lights custom cut to the home, installation by an insured crew, timers programmed so the display runs itself, free bulb and outage fixes all season once reported, takedown between January 1 and January 31, and off-season storage at our facility in labeled bins with color-coded tags.

No. Rooflines and ridges get classic C9 LED bulbs only. We skip roofline icicle lights because nobody makes a commercial-grade version that lasts a full season. When our service list mentions icicle drops, those are drop lights hung from tree branches, not from the roof edge.
