Christmas Light Installation: Orlando vs. Volusia County

Castle installs Christmas lights from the Volusia County coast to Orlando, and homeowners on each end of I-4 ask about the same things: does the price change, how does scheduling work, and what will the HOA say? Here's the practical difference between lighting a house on the coast and one in the metro.

Pricing: the same ranges, different homes

Our pricing doesn't change by zip code — $1,000 – $2,000 for most single-story rooflines, $1,500 – $2,500 for two-story homes, $4,500 and up for full-property displays, everything included. What changes is the house. Volusia's coastal and West Volusia neighborhoods skew toward single-story block homes with 150–250 feet of roofline, which land at the low end. Seminole and Orange County master-planned communities skew two-story with tile roofs, longer rooflines and matched entry palms, which push most jobs into the two-story range with a wrapped-palm add-on.

Scheduling: proximity vs. routing

Our crews and storage facility are in Volusia County. A home in DeLand, Port Orange or Ormond Beach can often be slotted into an open morning. Homes in Lake Mary, Sanford and Orlando are grouped into route days so a crew isn't driving I-4 twice for one house. The practical effect: metro homeowners should book earlier — September or October — to get a date they'd choose themselves, and everyone gets the 15% early-booking discount for doing so.

HOA rules: coast vs. metro

Coastal Volusia has HOAs, but many beachside and older neighborhoods have none at all, and displays there tend to be whatever the homeowner loves. The metro is different. Lake Nona, Baldwin Park, Heathrow, Timacuan and Victoria Park (back in DeLand) all have architectural standards, and while almost none prohibit holiday lights, most expect timers, tasteful palettes and no permanent hardware. Our design mockup exists partly for this: it's the document that gets a display approved in one email.

Roofs and weather

The coast is salt air and afternoon wind — commercial-grade clips and sealed LED strands matter, and cheap hardware corrodes by December. The metro is tile and stucco — tile-specific clips and no-drill attachment matter, as we covered in how to install Christmas lights on stucco and tile roofs. Either way, the equipment is ours, and anything the weather takes out is fixed free during the season.

Neighborhood notes from both ends of the route

• Daytona Beach and Ormond beachside: low block homes, sea-grape hedges, salt air. Salt-rated clips are non-negotiable.
• Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach: two-story homes on big lots, barrel tile east of the causeways, long driveways worth lighting.
• DeLand, Orange City and Deltona: older ranches under oaks and newer stucco subdivisions; the most flexible scheduling on our calendar because it's home base.
• Sanford and Lake Mary: historic bungalows downtown, then Lake Forest, Heathrow and Timacuan — tile roofs and architectural review boards.
• Orlando: Lake Nona and Baldwin Park HOA standards, Dr. Phillips and Windermere estate rooflines, College Park and Thornton Park oaks.

What stays the same everywhere

The package doesn't change with the address. Every home, coastal or metro, gets a design mockup, commercial-grade LED lights we supply, an insured crew with a $2 million liability policy and workers' comp, free bulb and outage fixes through the season, takedown between January 1st and 21st, and off-season storage in labeled bins at our facility. The quote is all-in, the deposit is 50%, and the balance is due on install day. Whether the crew drove ten minutes from our base or ninety down I-4, the display and the terms are identical.

Two examples

A single-story block home in Deltona with 180 feet of roofline and a lit hedge lands near the low end of the typical range and can usually be installed on a weekday morning in October or early November. A two-story home in Lake Nona with 260 feet of roofline, ridgeline, two wrapped palms and a lit walkway lands in the two-story range plus add-ons, needs the HOA-friendly mockup, and gets scheduled on an Orlando route day — which, in a busy November, is exactly why it's booked in September.

One calendar for two regions

Because one crew covers both regions, the calendar is shared. The pre-Thanksgiving weeks are the first to fill, and they fill for coastal and metro homes alike. If you're in the metro and want a specific week, book in September; if you're on the coast and flexible, October still usually works. Either way, the deposit is what holds the date, and 2026 early bookings get 15% off.
